Our history

In July 2014, Walt Tack PE formed Lenken Construction Services with one client and an idea that there is a better way to deliver construction projects, one that is based on mutual relationships of trust and dedication to the same values of delivering a quality project at a reasonable price in an agreed upon timeline. One that did not involve finger pointing, arguing or distrust.  In February 2017, at the request of a key client, Lenken added Design-Build Services by bringing John Hummel RA on as a partner. Design-Build was seen as a perfect delivery system for the Lenken business philosophy.  

What we do

Lenken provides commercial construction services for clients and projects ranging in size from less than $100,000 to over $10 million.  This includes new construction, additions and renovations.  Types of projects include senior living, health care, commercial offices, retail and light industrial.

Walter Tack, PE

Walter Tack, PE, President, has over 30 years of commercial construction experience ranging from senior living and healthcare to educational, office space, retail, light industrial and governmental. Walt has extensive experience in planning and budgeting projects. Walt has planned, estimated and/or managed over $1 billion in projects during his career. Walt is intimately involved with each project serving as Project Executive and often Project Manager.

“Lenken” is a German word that means "to navigate or guide." It is a word that captures the spirit of our efforts to serve our clients with a unique approach that is designed to discover the direction to make a project successful. We do this by building a relationship based on a commitment to mutual goals and values. We integrate design and construction services together creating an environment that maximizes the ability to explore options early on and understand each option’s impact on construction timelines, coordination issues, and cost. The owner can have as much or as little input in any phase of the project as appropriate, ensuring decisions remain on track with their priorities.

John Hummel, Vice President of Design, is a registered architect. John has over 30 years of design experience in a wide range of project types. John is experienced in facility and feasibility studies, and all phases of project planning and design.
